EVE DUNCAN gained a Master of Music at the University of Melbourne, Honours in Music Composition at Latrobe University and is currently completing a Doctor of Creative Arts at the University of Western Sydney, composing The Aspern Papers, an opera with a libretto by esteemed Australian David Malouf. Her awards include the International Music Prize for Excellence in Composition (Greece), Recital Music Double Bass Composition Competition (England), the UWS APRA Composition Award and the International Modern Music Award for Composition (Vienna). She was Composer of Honour at the Australian Composers Series XVIII, Monash University in 2010. Her recent music combines modernist architecture with East Asian spatial aesthetics, including a piano concerto Sydney Opera House, and a piano quintet Butterfly Modernism. Dredge for percussion quartet that addresses environmental issues, and Four Blackboard Pieces explored her interest in Steiner spirituality. She is a currently President of the Melbourne Composers League.
